Book Recommendations?

Help? Recommendations Needed!

Hi y'all! (I am not from Texas, I am quite far away in fact, but I love using the occasional y'all!) So, I am a booklover with a million bajillion books on my TBR list. Why am I asking for recommendations?

1) Well, I am wanting some good discussion books... for example My Sister's Keeper, The Giver, The Book Thief etc. I am in a writing/reading class where we read a good discussion book every month or so, and I love it lots!

2) A completed or very close to completed series recommendations would be very helpful. I have been on the lookout for finished/nearly finished young adult series and can find nothing! Some of my favorites I have read are Hex Hall, Harry Potter, Clockwork Prince, among others. Help, please?

I would LOVE it if you could suggest some books in each category! Thank you so, so much!

Happy Reading!

  1. The Shadowland series by Kate Brian is very good. The final book is being released mid 2014.

  2. Totally recommend Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo, The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken and Under the Never Sky trilogy by Veronica Rossi.

  3. Revenants by Amy Plum, I think is completed (I've only read the first. too many things on my shelf!). Strange Angels by Lili st. Crow, The Dark Divine by Bree Dispain, Paranomalcy by Kiersten White, and Firelight by Sopjie Jordan are all good series that are completed/

  4. Hmmm. For a discussion book, I'd probably say something like Elsewhere or Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin. Anything by Ellen Hopkins can make for an interesting discussion.
The House of Night series is almost over. There's eleven books, though. The twelfth one will be the last, if I'm not mistaken.
There's also Vampire Academy, Morganville Vampires, the Gone series by Michael Grant that just ended a few months ago.
    Happy reading! :D

  5. Hmm... I have a friend who never finished a series but I want her to. It's the maximum ride series with lots of good discussion points

  6. I'd second wolfie on Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin. I recently read Pablo Bacigalupi's (or however the hell you spell his last name) Ship Breaker which is a dystopia but it is definitely a discussion worthy book (as are most dystopias really). I think you'd also like Just Like Fate by Cat Patrick and Suzanne Young.

For near completed series I couldn't recommend Sarah Rees Brennan's Untold/Unspoken trilogy and the Mara Dyer trilogy is SO FREAKING INSANE AND ADDICTING (and the last book will FINALLY be out in June!). The Raven Boys is also getting all it's hype for good reason, although I'm not an insane fangirl like most. Why is all the things I read are ALMOST finished??
