Okay, do you know how Vampires were like the overdone book (and movie) trend for a long time. Well, I believe it is time for a new trend. After looking through a lot of YA books, I have surprisingly seen a lot of books about aliens.
Here's proof:
I could keep going... on and on and on. However, for the sake of my sanity and your eyes let's end the list here? Deal?
So, a lot of times when I see reviews for books about aliens they start out with "aliens are such a unique idea!" or "the author took a creative risk while writing this book."
Maybe, in the future, the reviews will start out with "Another alien book?"
Of course, this was just a little prediction. Do you think it will come true?
I'm always up for some Alien books, I was addicted to Roswell High and reread them tons when I was younger, but now, though I do love them, they have to be done well, and kind of, you know, original in the fact that they aren't these otherworldly hotness reincarnated. I Am Number 4 was fun, though kind of lacked depth, The Rules annoyed the crap out of me, but I really did love the evilness of The 5th Wave since it kept you guessing on who to actually trust. I think they are beginning to be overdone, kind of like Dystopians, it just needs something new to add to it. Great topic pick! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't really read many books about aliens, so I also thought that they were pretty rare. Now I see that they aren't, haha! I think books with aliens are touted as unique because they're not completely overdone like other otherworldly beings (e.g. vampires, werewolves, VAMPIRES, etc). I suppose I really ought to be one of these up, especially Ender's Game before I rent the movie. :)
ReplyDeleteI've read Obsidian, In the After and The 5th Wave and really enjoyed them. I have The Rules but haven't read it yet and Alienated looks amazing! If aliens are like Daemon Black then sign me up to get abducted ;)
