Ebook or Print?
As a newbie(ish) blogger I have learned that a lot of review copies or requests I receive are for ebooks. And it makes sense. The author/publisher doesn't have to pay for shipping, plus it is an instant download. Also, I read print ARCs cost 15 dollars to print a piece! So here are some pros and cons for ebooks:
Ebooks Pros:
- As afore mentioned, they download instantly!
- You can highlight, add notes, and other stuff (How cool are those things?!?!)
- Often you can read with your e-reader in just one hand instead of wasting your energy turning those pages!
- You can adjust font, size, and color.
Print Pros:
- Your eyes don't get tired as quick.
- It is easier to flip through the book. This can also eliminate confusion about the story if you can go back and check your facts.
- You can touch the cover image sand they are never in weird format.
- You can keep them as trophies on your shelf. (I love me some pretty books to hoard!)
So, what do you think? I am more fond of print, but I still love ebooks! Any more Pros to add to the list? Remember this is a debate so argue your side!

The good thing about physical books is that it's not only about the reading, but also the admiring. I LOVE my hardcovers and paperbacks. But EBooks are a quicker and, at times, more efficient method. Also, prints are way more expensive.
ReplyDeleteOoh, good points Camila! Especially the price gap. And I always admire my print books, especially the really pretty ones :)
DeleteI was going to do a post about this soon too!! Personally I read more e poke because they're cheaper and I can get more for my money, but LOVE the feeling of an actual book so if the price differs by a couple of dollars I go with the print version. You made some great points though!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good topic, if you do a post I can't wait to see it :) Ebooks are certainly cheaper... I need to add that to the list. But, of course, the feeling of a print book in your hand is pretty amazing. Great Points! :D
DeleteHaha you list some really great points! I love being able to bring my ereader wherever I go, but hardcovers will always hold a special place in my heart. There's just a certain magic that comes with holding a real book in your hands. xD

I also like being able to have so many books with me at once on an ereader instead of carrying several books around! I also like search features with ebooks! But I still love real books and always want to buy hard copy versions of ebooks I really love!
